Essenza is a smart insulin case designed to protect insulin pens in everyday life. It combines elegant design, advanced temperature protection, and smart connectivity to keep insulin safe wherever you go.

Essenza is designed for people who use insulin or injectable therapies daily (type 1 or type 2 diabetes, GLP-1 therapies), as well as parents or caregivers who want added peace of mind through monitoring and alerts.

With two dedicated compartments, Essenza can hold:

  • Two insulin pens, or
  • One insulin pen and up to five needles

To insert a second pen simply remove the needle holder and insert the pen in the free compartment.

Essenza is compatible with all major insulin pens (such as Apidra®, Humalog®, NovoRapid®, Toujeo®, Tresiba®) and GLP-1 pens (including Mounjaro®, Ozempic®, Saxenda®, Wegovy®), as well as commonly used pen systems such as FlexPen®, FlexTouch®, KwikPen®, NovoPen®, and SoloStar®. If you are not sure if your pen is compatible with Essenza, reach out to us at info@medeva.com.

Essenza uses advanced phase-changing materials (PCM) to maintain insulin within a safe temperature range for approximately 8–12 hours, depending on external conditions.

This protection works against both hot and cold ambient temperatures, helping prevent exposure to heat above 30°C / 86°F or cold below 2°C / 36°F.

Yes. Essenza continuously monitors the internal temperature of the case.

An LED indicator inside the lid gives instant visual confirmation:

  • Green light: temperature is within the safe range
  • Red blinking light: temperature is too high (above 30°C / 86°F)
  • Blue blinking light: temperature is too low (below 2°C / 36°F)

No. Essenza is designed for on-the-go insulin protection and does not need to be stored in the fridge during daily use.

At home, insulin should still be stored according to your healthcare provider’s instructions and the medication manufacturer’s guidelines. Essenza supports insulin safety when you’re out and about.

When connected via Bluetooth, the Essenza app allows you to:

  • View insulin temperature in real time
  • Receive alerts if the temperature goes out of the safe range
  • Track temperature history
  • Enable optional alerts for a parent or guardian
  • Access AI-powered temperature predictions to help you plan ahead

Yes. With the app, users can enable optional alerts so parents or guardians are notified if insulin temperature moves outside the safe range.

Yes. When paired with your smartphone, the app can notify you if Essenza is left behind or moves out of Bluetooth range—helping you avoid leaving home without your insulin.

Essenza uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). Under typical conditions, the connection works within a range of up to approximately 10 meters (33 feet).

Walls, bags, or other obstacles may reduce the effective range.

No. Essenza’s temperature protection works without charging.
The electronics used for monitoring and connectivity are designed for low energy consumption and long-term daily use. The battery in the lid is designed to last approximately two years and can be easily replaced by opening the inner lid.

Built with durable materials and high-quality components, Essenza is suitable for long-term daily use.

With normal use and proper care, Essenza is built to last for several years. You do not need to replace it on a fixed schedule—only if it becomes damaged or no longer functions as intended.

Absolutely. Essenza is made for day-to-day use, whether you’re commuting, travelling, exercising, or simply going about your routine.
Its durable construction protects your pens from both temperature fluctuations and physical impact.

If you carry insulin or injectable medication daily and want a simple, elegant, and reliable way to protect it, Essenza is designed for you—supporting real life without adding complexity.

Yes. Essenza is suitable for air travel and can be taken through airport security in your carry-on luggage. We recommend keeping Essenza with you during the flight, as checked baggage may get lost or be exposed to extreme temperatures. Always follow local airport and airline regulations for medical supplies.
